 Beware of secret sins!

The famous Companion Abu Darda (R.A.) said, "When a servant disobeys Allah Ta'ala in private, Allah Ta'ala creates hatred towards him in the hearts of the believers in such a way that he does not understand." [Imam Abu Nu'aim, Hilayatul Auliya: 1/215]

◉ CONSEQUENCES OF SECRET SINS:

The consequence of sin in secret is humiliation in public. Especially, those who make it a habit to sin secretly, their sin is no longer secret. Somehow people know that. Allah Ta'ala forgives, but does not allow a hypocritical good person to last. We commit many sins in secret. For example: looking at something haram, committing fornication, free-mixing, backbiting, indulging in conspiracy etc.

Junnun Misri (rahimahullah) said, “Whoever betrays Allah (sins) in private, Allah will reveal his secret publicly.” [Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, Ad Da-u Wad Dawa: 1/53]

Shaykh Abdul Aziz at-Tarifi (Hafizahullah), the famous scholar of Arabia, said, "After receiving Hidayat, most of the people who returned to Jahili (un-Islamic) life, turned to activities that they used to do behind the scenes." So, keep your piety in secret and be honest with Allah; He will protect your external piety.'

We must always bear in mind this warning of Allah—

.

اَلَمْ يَ قُقَمْ بِاَنَّ اللّٰهَ يَرٰی

.

“Does he not know that Allah sees (everything)?” [Surah Alaq, verse 14]
